An Art Show Recap

You know that experiece of a busy weekend or event that takes a lot of planning and preparation, and then when it is over, it feels like it was just a blur? That's how it is with art shows! I thought I'd try to give you a little "BTS" (behind the scenes) with this most recent art show. The Montgomery Bell Academy Art Show in Nashville, Tennessee.

The month prior to art shows is a serious crunch time. It's sort of like finals week back in school. At times it can feel overwhelming with the list of things to do and things to paint. I'm fortunate that Matt is so supportive of what I do and he is phenomonal at picking up the slack around the house and helping.

After months of preparation and planning, Matt and I were surprised and relieved that we were able to fit everything inside my little Subaru. A major feat! I arrived the day prior to the show to set up. The volunteers were AMAZING and are always a bigger blessing than they can even imagine! I returned from my car to find my work was already delivered to my space. So nice!

One of the best parts of an art show is seeing my friends! I wrote a blog post once about how I have been known to cry at art shows. Maybe part of it is being tired from the working hours on end during the pre-show prep or maybe it's because art is personal to me? But it happened. Again.

The timing finally worked out so that my daughter could attend this show. I was so excited! I gave her a list of names of people I wanted her to go find an introduce herself to. Every one of them is precious to me. Some I've met earlier at shows this year. Others I've known for YEARS. But all of them were excited to meet her and greeted her with a hug and such love. The very thought that I have a LIST of special people to introduce her to made me weep. How lucky am I to know so many great and talented people?! I've always known this, but when you stop and make a list? It makes it really something to marvel! (Maybe we should make lists more often.)

From the generosity of the hosts that welcome me into their home like family (forever thankful to Doug & Beth), the friend who sacrifices her time and comes to help me set up (shout out to Monna!), the friends who came by to see me and show their support (Kelsey, Kris, Necie Elizabeth and Dayo), to the new friends and collectors made and the entire group of volunteers and show community...each one, a blessing to me. I could prattle on and on about how much I love ALL these people and how special they are! But instead I'll share some candids from this weekend so you can see some of these beautiful people I share space with on occasion. I am blessed beyond measure.

I suppose I should say something about art for sale. Haha! But, of course, there is some work remaining after the show. I'm happy to answer any questions you may have about available work.

So there you have it. My "blur" of a weekend. Chock full of beauty and all the good stuff in life. A reward in itself in addition to the sales as you can see.
