Small Painting. Big Impact.

The Dollhouse Auction

I love to paint small just as much as I love to paint LARGE. Up until now, the smallest I’ve painted has been 3x3. This week I had a scrap of torn paper leftover from recent 5x7 paintings on paper I’ve been working on for my next show. I thought it may be fun to try to paint a tiny little bowl of cherries on it. So I mixed tiny piles of paint and used the smallest brush I have.
Tiny oil painting of a bowl of Cheries
While I painted my train of thought went something like this:
I love painting bowls of cherries. Edith Anne has one of the originals I’ve painted. Then I remembered, “Oh wait! Edith Anne has been working on a doll house. I wonder if she can use this!”

Edith Anne Duncan's breakfast nook and an original bowl of cherries I painted.

So I reached out to her and explained that I had this tiny painting. She was just as enthusiastic as I was. And then it also hit me that I had some tiny frames somewhere that I had forgotten about. Thankfully one of them fit this tiny painting. Perfect! I cut the paper down to size and assembled the two together. Then I shipped them up to Edith Anne along with a couple other goodies. (Because I love to ship goodies!)
You really need to see this dollhouse. When a super talented interior decorator builds and furnishs a dollhouse you know it’s going to be perfection! The details are amazing!
This weekend Edith Anne is auctioning off the dollhouse (complete with Christmas decorations!) and 100% of the proceeds will go to The Christmas Store of Montgomery County, Virginia. The auction runs thru Monday, November 25th 2024 at 10 am EST. (UPDATE! The Dollhouse sold at auction for $4250 to one lucky bidder.) You can find all the details on her Instagram page in her highlights, stories and posts linked here. And speaking of me and my bowls of cherries, you can find prints and kitchen towels in my shop here on my website.

And now you can find one in a dollhouse.

The doll house is extraordinary. Of course your bowl of cherries original makes it extra special.
